![]() Ten Questions With Brad Wilson By: Paul Autry The "ten questions interview" isn't an original idea. There's a lot of publications out there that have done something like this. However, I believe this is a good...and quick...way for people to get to know the artist. I thought about doing this for a long time. When I finally got around to doing it, I wanted to go with an artist who I felt had a lot to offer musicially. After going through my CD collection, I decided to send the first ten question interview to multi-talented guitarist Brad Wilson. This interview was long overdue. So, please, be sure to stop by Brad's website to see what he has to offer. Paul Autry: Please introduce yourself to everyone out there. Brad Wilson: Well, I'm a singer, songwriter, guitarist. Solo artist performing shows to support my self-titled solo CD. Fronted the blues/rock band Stone for seven years. Won numerous awards, including one for songwriting, with musical credits that include songs on the NBC tv show Passions, the Saturn award winning movie soundtrack for John Carpenter's Vampires and lead guitar on the film soundtrack to John Carpenter's Ghosts Of Mars. Have opened for many top name artists like Cheap Trick, 38 Special, Cinderella, Dokken, Tonic and Paula Cole to name a few and I have toured across the U.S. many times. Paul Autry: Plug your current project and mention any previous ones that you'd like people to know about. Brad Wilson: I’m touring to support my new record. I’m a native Californian. So, my shows are mostly west coast with a non-stop tour schedule that is close to two hundred shows a year! I often say that I like my job so much that I refer to my schedule as “The Endless Tour.” My solo album is on sale worldwide. Record sales are through CDWOW.com (Europe), BMUSIC.com.au (Australia) and CDBABY.com & AMAZON.com (North America). I recorded two records with Stone that has some great music on them with the legendary Robb Brothers producing one and guitar master Doug Aldrich co-producing the other. Paul Autry: Musical influences? Brad Wilson: Guitar greats I consider mentors are Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore, BB King, Warren Haynes, Jeff Beck, Angus Young, Albert King, Jimmy Page & Jimi Hendrix. My favorite musicians sing, play guitar and write songs. Paul Autry: Advice to up and coming musicians? Brad Wilson: Every day is very important and valuable to you. Work as hard as you can at music. Try to do the best you can at every opportunity. Nothing will substitute for hard work and dedication to your craft. Paul Autry: What are some of your interests outside of music? Brad Wilson: My marriage, my family and sports. Paul Autry: Name your poison. Brad Wilson: I mostly drink water. But, I love carrot juice. Paul Autry: What are your thoughts on file sharing? Brad Wilson: I have MP3’s on my website you can download and file share. I like the direction music is going with digital distribution. But, I still like to buy the CD’s & look at the text and photos as well as have the CD in my collection. Paul Autry: Plug somebody else that you think people should check out. Brad Wilson: I’m listening to Buddy Guy, Jeff Kollman & Rick Brannon. All ace guitarists. Paul Autry: What have you done that you’re most proud of and what's left to accomplish? Brad Wilson: I’m very happy and proud to be able to play music and perform shows. It’s extremely gratifying when I get a tremendous response to my own songs. My goal is to write and play guitar my whole life. Paul Autry: Final comments? Brad Wilson: I like connecting with people about shows, blues songs, rock ‘n’ roll, guitars, amps, etc. So, if you come to one of my shows, please stop by and say hello! BONUS QUESTION: I actually do eleven questions. Since I'm a huge Steven Seagal fan, I like to ask other people what they think of him. This is Brad's response. Brad Wilson: I don't get to see a lot of movies. But, I heard he's a recording artist too! NOTE TO BRAD: Yeah...believe it or not...but...I haven't heard his album yet. I have every movie he's ever made. But, I didn't get the album yet. That's next on my list. But, since you're a guitarist, I'd suggest checking out "Fire Down Below." Steven twangs a little bit of guitar in that one. Plus, you get to see him kill Randy Travis. That's worth watching. http://www.bradwilsonlive.com |
